There is no shortage of adventures to be had in Cairns, Australia on land and sea. Pack it in or take it slow, Tropical North Queensland caters to both the adrenaline junky and the lazy sunbather. After one leisurely trip and one whirlwind weekend, these are my recommendations of top 10 things you must eat, see and do in Cairns.
Make no mistake. I know what a tropical paradise looks like. I live on an unspoiled island just two minutes from a protected marine preserve. And yet, for a second time I am completely inspired by the sleepy mountain-top village of Kuranda in Tropical North Queensland, Australia. United Airlines sent me to Cairns to document this pristine eco destination.
The most densely populated city in the world is also the most shoppable. Manila is a direct flight away from Guam and as such, a place that’s becoming not only a frequent stopover, but a destination for food, medical, and shopping. Manila has its share of inequity, crime, and pollution, but I’ll focus on its entertainment value of its popular Makati City.

I’m excited to announce that my cover story for United Airlines Hemispheres magazine has been published. I spent six weeks writing and photographing my home island of Guam to appear in the glossy magazine with a circulation of 14 million.
A short bus ride from the Big Buddha, the Tai O Fishing Village is home to some of the merely 2,000 fishermen still working in Hong Kong. As in many places, youth seek the sophistication, education, and job opportunities of the city over the back-breaking labor of their forefathers.

2014 was such an awesome year of travel, it will be hard to top. These destinations have been on my bucket list for months, from cosmopolitan cities like Seoul to cultural hotspots like the remote island of Yap.
