I so rarely get to wear coats — or any warm clothes — living on a tropical island set at a perpetual 86 degrees. I’m not complaining. I turn into a 90-year-old scoliosis nightmare in cold weather, but secretly I kinda miss it. I miss winter wardrobes and dusty snow covered houses. I miss snow days and watching movies and drinking hot chocolate.

As I plan a trip to a scarily cold climate, I have scoured the interwebs in search of the chicest and warmest coats. Then I realized, I already own it. The coat pictured at left was mockingly nicknamed “The Kitty” by my friends in Dallas. It’s a belted fur and wool vintage coat and it weighs like 25 pounds, but it is so warm! For any of you still shopping for your dream winter coat, cue the credit cards…
