Living on the beautiful tropical island of Guam means staycations are a welcome alternative to jetting off-island to relax. Eschewing the hubbub of Guam’s tourism center, Tumon, we ventured north to STARTS Golf Resort. We were soon seduced by the charm of the place. It’s got a Hitchcockian feel — Spanish style architecture, lots of flowering trees — and seemed the perfect place for a murder mystery to unfold. I felt like a Hollywood starlet taking refuge from the paparazzi in a Palm Springs resort circa 1960. Active imagination? Oh, yeah.
We dined at the excellent Japanese restaurant, Sensui, and strolled the moonlit golf course. The next day was spent soaking up the sun (a little bit too much of it) at the immaculate pool. A steamy bath in the extra long tub was just the respite needed on a Saturday afternoon.

It’s so quiet out there! Next week the restaurant is offering 50% off dinner too. Best to make a reservation, then mention The Guam Guide. Enjoy!

There are a lot of pictures taken from the rough, I hope you didn’t have a bad round of golf! Me and my brother always play golf and the course looks in great shape. The hotel looks like the perfect place for the other halves to relax whilst we are playing.

What a gorgeous resort! I love the marbled wall in the washroom. Man I can only dream of having a staycation in Guam- must be nice not having to go very far for paradise. It totally reminds me of Hawaii!

The views from your room look just stunning. I would love to spend some time in that pool too. I don’t play golf but I would love to walk around the grounds, they look just beautiful.

Looks like a beautiful resort – so bright! I love your photos, the surroundings look so lush and green too with all of the pretty flowers. Wouldn’t mind taking a dip in that swimming pool! Guam has been on our radar for a while – just waiting for the right opportunity with flights. Will keep this resort in mind if we get chance to visit!

I love how to think. I am the same always relating placed to movies and or books. Although looking at the photos it came across more Agatha Christie to me..HAHA! Love the prestine whiteness of the resort mixed with the green of the nature. Very luxurious and love that you got to eat Japanese food because that’s my favourite cuisine.

Looks like one absolutely gorgeous resort! That’s indeed a room with a view! The greenery around and the pristine pool are so relaxing. The place to head to when you need the much needed break from city!

That looks beautiful! I love the view from your room, and the whole area – with the palm trees and flowers – is just stunning. I can definitely imagine spending a couple of relaxing days here, not doing anything, just soaking up the sun!

Looks like a beautiful property to escape the daily grind. Have not been on a staycation ever and I desperately want one. The property looks quite luxurious and love the bathroom, pool and golf area. Perfect retreat.

Wow! You took some really great shots!! You have a real eye…even the simple is set up so lovely… We always travel with the kids and I can tell you that the winding river/pool would be a huge hit!!! They would love to burn off some energy there.
