Watch my latest travel film about one of the world’s most popular waterfalls, Niagara.
Niagara Falls is easily one of my favorite waterfalls on earth. (Iceland’s Kirkjufellsfoss is a close second.) My hands were shaking as I willed my little drone perilously close to that tower of mist. If you are a photographer, I highly recommend you drag yourself out of bed for a sunrise shoot. It’s positively magical to see the sky warm up and pierce through the mist.
My first trip to Niagara Falls was a surprise. I was on my honeymoon and the Hubs told me we were taking a detour from New York. Little did I know that Niagara was branded a lovers’ destination hundreds of years ago. I was so enraptured in my new love that I hardly grasped the enormity of the falls. I was glad to return ten years later and film this with my new DJI Phantom 4 and my trusty old Sony a7S.

Very cool, I didn’t know you could fly a drone there. Did you need to get special permission? Were there any others?

Hi Jim. I didn’t see any other drones that weekend, but there are YouTube videos. Yes, you do need permission to fly over the falls, but you don’t need permission to fly in the park across from the falls where you can also get a good view.

I have not been, but so want to visit. I think the kids would be AMAZED at the power of so much water in one spot!!! Great video and I think it would be wonderful to show them before the trip so they can get an idea of what they will see.

Wow this looks so beautiful! I love how you filmed different angles of the Niagara Falls. I haven’t been there yet but would love to visit!

You’ve captured Niagra falls from some incredible angles. What makes me think is how didn’t you get spray on the camera? When you mentioned that Kirkjufellsfoss are your favourite falls I now must visit them!

This is beautiful. Loved the different angles in which you captured Niagra Falls. I have always wanted to see the falls, but have yet to even while living in Ontario. Hopefully one day soon as it is a special must see Canadian landmark.

What an atmospheric film. I really get a sense of Niagara’s coldness, power, and beauty. This is a great piece!

The first few frames remind me of a scene from Armageddon! I’ve got a bit of an obsession with waterfalls so really enjoyed watching this, and would just LOVE to visit Niagara one day! My favourite thing about larger waterfalls is that you will always always find a rainbow at the base, and sure enough there’s one in your film too.

I went to Niagara Falls once as a child but had never really thought about going back! This video has officially made me reconsider. I LOVE the way you edited your video, so relaxing and not the “typical” Niagara Falls video.

Your video is fantastic, I love how you’ve captured the little details, like the flowers nearby or the rainbow in the mist. Your drone has captured some really beautiful scenes and the quality of the video is impressive. I would have loved to visit Niagara Falls when I was in Canada, for a day before flights.
