Living on a tiny island at the edge of the Pacific Ocean means I regularly travel for 24 hours straight to get to the Mainland. I’ve even gone around the world in 40 days. The human body, no matter how healthy, can only handle so much. The worst thing that can happen is a sickness that ruins your travel. At the risk of sounding mom-ish, here’s how to stay healthy when you travel!
The Island That America Forgot
In the heart of the South Pacific, a bit west of Hawaii, is a small atoll that houses one of the U.S. Military’s most strategic outposts. The island’s name is Kwajalein (K-wa-dj-u-lan) or Kwaj for short. All of the people who live on Kwaj are U.S. military. If it wasn’t for the mind-numbing heat index and 100% humidity, you would think you were on the Mainland, in any other small town U.S.A. The lawns are perfectly manicured, the streets are clean, houses are maintained just as in any other suburban oasis.
Is the iPhone 6 Plus Better for Travel?
I just upgraded to the iPhone 6 Plus. Even though I have been accused of such, I’m not a technology junkie. I don’t camp out overnight like a pimply pubescent with nothing better to do every time Apple releases a new phone. I toted my iPhone 4s for years, opting out of the upgrade frenzy to the iPhone 5. It just wasn’t different enough. However, the iPhone 6 is a game changer for me. Admittedly, some of the features I’ll describe were available in the iPhone 5s and are a result of iOS8.

Most of you will probably understand when I say that there are certain things in the world that give you a sense of nostalgia. It might be a place you lived while growing up, a certain dish that reminds you of simpler times, even a group of friends that, even if you lose touch over the years, you can always go back to where things left off the moment you see them. For me, that perfectly sums up Kuala Lumpur.

12 Ways Not to Travel Like a Tourist
When I was 25 and single, I spent a month living in Jamaica. I learned that living like a local can be so much more enriching than traveling like a tourist. I boarded with a local family far from the tourist district in Montego Bay. I volunteered, drove, made friends, traveled, and even attended a wedding. I really got to know the people and the place and it’s an experience I will cherish the rest of my life.
8 Ways to Get Free Travel
Ask for It: I read a travel blog that said to ask the hotel to comp your mini bar items. Thinking that was slightly preposterous, I tried it. News flash: It works!
